Brave the Waves for St. Michael's House Foundation – December 2025
This December, we’re asking you to take a dip and make a splash for St. Michael’s House Foundation!
At any stage during the month, head out safely and Brave the Waves — whether it’s the sea, a lake, or even your local pool. Once you’ve taken the plunge, your challenge is complete!
This is the final event in our 70th Birthday Celebrations, and we’d love you to be part of it.

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions here and take note of our Swimming Safety Guidelines below:
Your safety is our top priority. Please take a few moments to read the following advice before taking part in Brave the Waves:
Never swim alone – always have someone with you or ensure a safety team is nearby.
Make sure you can be seen – wear a brightly coloured swim cap or use a tow float.
Check the weather and wind conditions before you swim.
Know the tides – use an app such as Tides Near Me. It’s much safer to swim on a rising tide than a falling one.
Swim within your depth – especially if you’re less experienced or new to open water.
Listen to your body and tailor your swim to how you feel on the day.
Be aware of marine life such as jellyfish and weever fish.
If you have a medical condition, please consult your doctor before taking part.
For further advice, visit Water Safety Ireland – Open Water Swimming.
Please note: Brave the Waves is for adults and is not recommended for children. Participants take part at their own risk.
